Impact of Literature on Women and Girls
Grounding ámaxa's Karina's Library initiative in evidence-based research on how literature shapes the lives of women and girls.
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE
Ground ámaxa's Karina's Library initiative in evidence-based academic research, and implement changes to project goals and delivery based on findings.
RESEARCH TOPIC AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Paint a picture — or "weave a tapestry" — of the varied ways books and literature affect women and girls of different ages, different kinds of literature, across cities, states, and countries; across cultures — in order to convey the importance of the Karina's Library project: all of the ways "behind the scenes" that it's more than just "giving someone a book."
Provide the Karina's Library project with greater information to make our work more effective and targeted: Should we focus on an age group or type of literature? Are libraries vs. direct distribution a greater impact in literature? How can we create interactive events beyond giving a book, like the Baltimore Polar Express Bus, or library buses?
After this research has been completed: how can we measure the impact of this initiative?
